Emil Bedard - Marine Corps General
Lieutenant General Emil R. “Buck” Bedard retired in 2004 from the United States Marine Corps after 37 years of active duty service, including serving as Deputy Commandant for Plans, Policies and Operations; directing Marine operations during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm; and commanding Marines in Somalia, Japan, Hawaii and at NATO in Holland. General Bedard was commissioned a second lieutenant on December 1, 1967, and served as a rifle platoon commander and company executive officer with 2d Battalion, 27th Marines and 3d Battalion, 3d Marines in the Republic of Vietnam.
General Bedard’s awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (with a gold star), Bronze Star (with Combat V), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with 18 Strike/Flight awards, Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal (with Combat V and 2 gold stars), Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
Following his military service, General Bedard has served on several boards and in an advisory capacity to a wide range of companies. He currently serves as a director at Intellicheck Mobilisa and PortBlue Corporation. He is also on the Advisory Boards of WinWin Gaming, Inc. and Laser Shot, Inc., as well as the Senior Advisory Board of Applied Energetics, Inc. Additionally, he is a member of the Military Technical Advisory Board at Homeland Security Technology, Inc. and the Military Advisory Board at Domestic Energy Corporation.
General Bedard earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Dakota. His formal military education includes the U.S. Army Advanced Infantry Course, Armed Forces Staff College and Army War College.
