Edward Thibodo - Vietnam War
Edward Thibodo was drafted into the Armed Forces on May 6, 1968 and was immediately transferred to Fort Ord California U.S. Army Training Center Infantry Company B 4th Battalion 3rd Brigade to complete Basic and Advanced Training. Private First Class Thibodo was immediately transferred to Vietnam 2nd Corps Tactical Zone, 394th Transportation Battalion assigned to the 129th , 119th Transportation Company at the Vung Ro Bay Terminal. There he supported terminal, motor and air transportation service for the next year in country. Upon completion of his year in country he was transferred to the United States Army Engineering School where he taught Officer Candidates how to survive in Vietnam. Specialist 4 Thibodo ended his two year commitment on May 5, 1970 with the following medals… Sharpshooter, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Devices. His only comment is “I lost too many friends in such a short time.”
